With the race heating up and less than two months before the primary on May 5th, it is not surprising that the "rumors" and "mud slinging" have begun.  It is what politicians do.  I refuse to engage in that type of negativity.  People are fed up with dirty politics and just want us to stick to the issues.  So the politicians involved in this race can continue with starting rumors to distract the people from the issues, but I don`t think it will work in the long run.  I believe it will back fire.

While I have no intention of responding to every single silly rumor the other candidates choose to start, there is one that I feel is important enough to address.  That rumor is that I intend to get rid of most of the employees and in particular, the police chief, Chief Long, whom I have the utmost respect for.  Chief Long has done an amazing job and I hope and pray he will stay in office, should the people choose to elect me as their next mayor.  No mayor can lead a city by himself.  I need the city employees to rally with me and work together as a team.  Fear of losing their jobs should be the farthest thing from their minds.  I have no desire to put anyone out of work in any economy but especially this one.  My goal is that the employees of the city will rally around me, support my vision, and work as a team to tackle the issues that concern the citizens the most.

We will not play games no matter how hard the other candidates attempt to engage us.  We will not debate no matter how hard the other candidates try to push us into a corner assuming that we won`t have a choice.  We do have a choice.  And we choose to focus on talking with and listening to the people.  We choose to work on solutions and focus on the people`s plan for the future.

I`m open to talk with any citizens who have questions or concerns.  Please pick up the phone and call me at 901.289.1800 on my cell phone.  Or email me at Mitch@MitchWrightforMayor.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
